Residence, domicile and home address
Official residence records the municipality and address where a person normally lives. It is different from domicile, which concerns the main place of personal or professional interests.
Registration is not automatic because you have a rental contract or residence permit. You must submit a declaration and prove that you lawfully occupy the home. The municipality performs the required checks.
What to do
1. Identify the request
It may be first registration from abroad, a move from another municipality, or a new address in the same municipality.
2. Prepare documents
Usually identification, tax code, residence documents for non-EU citizens and evidence of lawful occupancy are required.
3. Submit the declaration
Many people already registered in ANPR can report a move online using SPID, CIE or CNS.
4. Follow the request
Keep the receipt and respond to requests for additional documents. The municipality may verify habitual residence.
Before you start
- Write names and dates exactly as on official documents.
- Include everyone moving to the address.
- Attach readable housing documents.
- Make sure your name is visible on the intercom and that you can receive mail.
