About Us

Associazione Buonsenso is a non-profit association based in Rome, Tax Code 96657510580.

Our team includes social workers, front-line operators, migration specialists, researchers, developers and volunteers. We work on practical barriers that make it difficult to understand administrative procedures or access public services in Italy.

Our activities include direct guidance, verified multilingual information, community outreach, cooperation with local organisations and the development of practical tools. Sportellino is one of the association’s projects.

Where we come from

Associazione Buonsenso grew out of study and fieldwork connected with the Master in Migration & Development at Sapienza University of Rome. In conversations with people and professionals, we kept encountering the same practical problem: official information is often fragmented, quickly becomes outdated or is available only in Italian. There can also be a gap between formal rules and the way procedures work locally.

Questions about a residence permit, municipal registration, choosing a family doctor, obtaining an electronic identity card (CIE) or setting up SPID can therefore become significant obstacles. The association was created to respond to these gaps through human support, careful research and cooperation with public services and community organisations.

What we do

Our social workers and support staff listen to questions, explain procedures and help identify the responsible offices and documents to check. Where needed, they point people towards specialist services.

Request personal support exclusively by email at info@sportellino.it. The registered office is not a public help desk with opening hours. Any support arrangements are agreed in response to your email.

Sportellino offers initial information and guidance. The digital assistant does not submit applications, book appointments, allocate housing or benefits, or guarantee the outcome of a procedure. Decisions remain with the responsible authorities.

We are based in Rome and collaborate with organisations elsewhere in Italy. We check official sources and local procedures, prepare multilingual information and develop tools with communities and professionals.

What we believe

People should be able to understand the procedures that affect their daily lives and exercise their rights regardless of language, origin, income or digital skills. Good support starts with listening, clear explanations and an honest account of what is known and what still needs to be checked.

No single channel or tool can replace relationships, professional judgement and cooperation between services. We therefore combine direct support, accessible information and responsible use of technology.

Associazione Buonsenso is independent and non-profit. We review our work with the people we support, social-sector professionals, volunteers and partner organisations, and update information when rules or local practices change.
